Portrait Paintings
I enjoy painting people, and I always work from life. Most of my portraits are head studies, and some of them displayed here were demonstrations while I was teaching. Because I work from life, the sitter must be available to pose. Usually the model poses at my storefront, but I can travel to teach or do a commission. In 1992, I demonstrated portrait drawing for the Museum of Fine Art in Gifu, Japan. I included interiors in this section, and my favorite is the one of me, holding my daughter, and painting. People often wonder how I managed to paint with 5 children...this is the answer. The chicken was our pet, Hickety Pickety (I didn't think I should categorize her as a still life).
