Landscape Painting en plein air
Painting outdoors directly from nature is one of the greatest pleasures of summer. Vermont, especially the Jeffersonville area, has long been a popular painting spot for many artists for more than a century. We take full advantage of the picturesque farms, rivers, open fields and mountains. Although we paint at various times during the day, sunsets are still my favorites.  K. Winslow
Monhegan Island

Monhegan Island, located 12 miles out to sea from Port Clyde, ME, has been attracting artists for close to a century.  With the surf pounding on the rocks below, I perched my new easel near the edge of the 160 cliff to capture the mists and majesty of the sea.  Check out the painting I was working on, as well as a few others, from this painting trip on my blog:  http://www.brushwork.blogspot.com/

Although painting is a solitary activity, it is fun to paint with friends.  On this trip, I painted with Elizabeth Torak and Ann Scanlan.  Elizabeth has an excellent blog, and Ann owns the Sylvan Gallery.  I have links to both of them on my links page.

Summer Pastoral ~  Jack painted this magnificent painting for the 25th anniversary of Winslow Art Studio in Vermont.  It is 4'x6' (image), oil on linen studio landscape.  He generally paints small plein air studies, and works up these larger paintings in the studio from his sketches and small studies.  K.
