Still life is one of the best ways to practice capturing an illusion of light, form, space, weight and movement. Although we are Classical painters, we are not trying to duplicate the past, so we paint objects that have relevance today.  It is great fun to elevate the ordinary, so that  everyday objects possess dignity and importance.
